Wound Care Q & A

What is wound care?

Dr. Wahab has consulted with hospitals and administrations to develop outpatient and inpatient wound care departments. She works side by side with the administrative team as well as the nurses, physical therapists, and ancillary staff to improve patient outcomes and increase outpatient revenue.

Where does wound care occur?

Dr. Wahab and the team at Wound Care Experts provide wound care services for patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and extended care facilities throughout southern Nevada.

They also go to outpatient wound centers and clinics in the area including Mountainview Wound care and Hyperbaric Center , Southwest Medical Wound Center, and St. Rose Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center at the San Martin Campus

What types of wound care treatments are available?

The team at Wound Care Experts is dedicated to staying current on research in the field of wound care. Dr. Wahab has led many clinical research studies on progressive treatments for wound healing, including:

Negative pressure wound therapy

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) uses a vacuum device to draw out excess fluid and infection from a wound to help it heal. Dr. Wahab is involved in research and development of a disposable NPWT device that reduces cost and improves patient compliance.

Stem cells

Stem cells facilitate wound healing even in patients who don’t experience improvement from NPWT treatment. Dr. Wahab led multiple clinical research studies on plant-based stem cell nanotechnology for wound healing.

Do patients have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials?

Yes! Many patients do not see the desired results with conventional therapy and are forced to suffer with wounds for months or even years. Enrollment in a clinical trial may provide you with ultramodern treatment. Wound Care Experts participates in a rich portfolio of diabetic clinical trials.  If you have a diabetic wound and are interested in participating in a clinical trial, please contact our office.

How do clinical research studies influence wound care?

Clinical research helps develop the treatments of tomorrow today.  We are pleased to offer cutting-edge interventions to qualifying patients.

What types of wounds have clinical research studies?

The wounds that are most commonly studied are diabetic, venous, post-surgical and pressure wounds

What is involved in wound care?
